How Microcurrent Therapy Works

Toxins are the basis of all disease. Thorp Institute of Integrated Medicine microcurrent therapy detoxifies the body by applying minute electrical currents directly to the energy pathways of the body. This current is administered through small probes on the skin’s surface. Treatment is non-drug, non-invasive, and virtually pain-free.

Microcurrent therapy works at the cellular level. Electrical energy naturally flows through the body’s cells. When a cell is injured, diseased, or toxic, electricity, like blood flow, goes around the damaged tissue instead of through it. The electrical currents in microcurrent instruments seek the abnormalities of diseased, injured, or toxic tissue in the human body and open up the cell membrane, enhancing nutrient intake and waste product departure.

Treatment plans are tailored to your individual needs and ailment. Generally, a plan consists of three consecutive 60 to 90 minute treatments. These treatments have a cumulative effect, which in most cases leads to permanent pain relief and/or greatly reduced pain levels. For many patients three treatments are enough. However, depending on severity of condition or degeneration, more treatments may be necessary to see results.
